Es zeichnet sich durch einen kristallklaren, transparenten, ausgewogenen Klang und eine gerichtete Tonabnehmercharakteristik mit einer leichten Betonung der hohen Mikrofontöne aus. Der ND76 verfügt außerdem über ein praktisch unzerstörbares Gitter und eine ausgeklügelte interne Stoßdämpferhalterung, die Kontaktgeräusche auf ein Minimum reduziert.
